I started with HeliX and I love the piro (hover) training and the Promenade training. Regarding HeliX versus neXt those are the only ones I have. Maybe I'll use Heli-X when I want to feel good about my flying, it's quite flattering I think, whereas neXt seems to show up any weakness in your control! It flies really nicely on both sims actually. I'd say RL is somewhere in-between the two to be honest! But it's hard to judge as I don't own a Logo 600. The heli seems to hang in the air forever and funnels are much easier as a result. Still the same crap sound LOL! But as to the all-important physics I find Heli-X a bit too easy. If I can do funnels in it, I'll be happy!Įdit: Just downloaded the latest version of Heli-X to compare - flying the same Logo 600. Think I'll try the Heli-X demo again now I have a little experience. In hindsight, maybe it's more dynamic than the real thing, but it gets the job done. I didn't have enough experience at that point to judge the physics, but I did think neXt felt a lot more dynamic and responsive. But I haven't spent much time on Heli-X to compare - only used the demo very briefly when I first started flying just over a year ago and at that time I found neXt more visually appealing and the sound was far better too. I felt the same way, but I'd rather it be harder in the sim than the other way round! For the same reason I find funnels with neXt very hard indeed, but that could well be me as I'm still learning. I recall when I started doing banked turns IRL I was surprised how much easier it was than in neXt. If I get too much going on like double piro flips or tripple with an intense back ground graphics movement my screen starts moving frame by frame.Įspecially with banked turns where the heli falls out of the sky so easily. I've not seen a sim where one of those speed runners like the TDR or Banshee feel realistic speed wize either.Ī good graphics card would help my simming the most. I'd love to have access to some of nExt's fields as well as some of the user created Phoenix fields. What I like about sim is the chance to fly different fields and nExt fields rock. For instance if there is a strong steady wind and your doing circuits, on a real heli you have to make your turn about 15 feet early for the heli to wind up where you want it and not go into the tree's or barn or whatever obstacle you have if any. It still will be just a little bit off from the real heli in different area's of flight. In other words they don't slip in the air.Įven if you can get flip, roll, pitch up and down and rudder min and max speeds dialed in just like you have them on your real heli. There is definitely a difference in the way each sim feels. I have no idea which one feels more realistic in that regard, I haven't had a chance to fly IRL in a long time.įor anyone that's used both of these, which do you suggest using more, to make real world progress? Has anyone else ditched neXt in favor of Heli-x? I've been using them about 50/50, but because of the significant difference in physics, it's probably more detrimental than good. They are way easier in Heli-X, where as in neXt the heli keeps trying to fall out of the sky. One thing In particular that's drastically different between them, is the way funnels and banked turns feel. These were my only two options for a sim running osx (pleassseee don't tell me to install windows, run bootcamp, etc., it's not happening right now), otherwise I'd just use real flight. It feels very much like RF7 in my opinion. I can do a lot more in NeXt, but I feel like Heli-x is way more realistic. I used neXt for most of 2015 and recently bought Heli-x.
